Antenocitis Workshop G.O.T. NRF Kabardin in 15mm Part 2

Back in the first post here I mentioned I was unsure what guns I had been sent with the Kabardin as they did not match the pictures on Antenocitis site.  Within a day, I had been contacted both by blog post and e-mail explaining it was a packing mistake and they would despatch BOTH variations to make up for the error.

True to their word, earlier this week a padded envelope came along with the following two turrets bagged up.  Figure is the normal GZG NI infantry man, the 1p coin is 20.3mm in diameter and the change in background colour to try to remove some of the glare (and failing).

First out the pack was the GP variant turret and 30mm auto-cannon:

Then sliding out came the anti-tank option:

All parts cleanly cast with the AT version looking real cool!

Due to the thin profile of the turret base I do not think I can drill a mounting hole for a magnet (and am loath to just stick one on) so I may have to use a sliver of metal on here and mount the magnet in the body to allow me to change turrets as I need to.  Failing that – I could always buy a couple more but that may be a bit of overkill for a small skirmish game!

So great service from Antenocitis Workshop and a great model to boot.

Antenocitis Workshop G.O.T. NRF Kabardin in 15mm

For my first figure purchase this year I decided to buy myself a vehicle to act as an APC rather than have the troops slog across the board and having had a good look around I decided on the Kabardin from Antenocitis 15mm Governance of Technology range.

First thing to note was how well the bits came packed – solid use of tape and nothing would slide around.  The figure however is blister packed and though unlikely to move around the top is pressed hard up against the plastic as the foam sits under the wheels

Given how strong the resin is how flat the top is I do not foresee any real chance of damage (my was fine) but for postal orders I would rather have them bubble wrapped than blister mounts – they are not for display and retail sale.  The plastic bag at the back contains the metal additions.

From the side, the model is clean and neat.  The tires are fully inflated with no flat bottoms though the locking nut on the outer wheel rims are all in the same place (I used to make model cars etc so pick on bits like this).

The top details are very clearly cast – no problems with the fine grill at the rear and the gaps in the shield around the cupola are tight and even.

From the bottom you can see the only obvious casting ‘seam’ – well buried and the minor injection point on the nose will fill and smooth down with no issues.  The lumps holding the wheels to the body are not visible from the side / top and I am happy not having to stick the wheels on!

The rear hatch is fine but the tow bar is not a clean cast – at this scale though you can ignore this as the little lights have come out great.

Weapon wise I am not sure what I got – the pictures on the site show a longer gun barrel where as mine is more SMG sized with a large smoke launcher.  I may replace this with something out of the bits box and use this as an unarmoured carrier.  The cast on this is OK but the small gun is not very detailed and the smoke launcher OTT next to it.

Size wise it is fine next to the figures (GZG NI in urban uniform and a GBP 1p shown for scale)but I would question if you could get 8-10 figures with full equipment in normally!

Casting quality I have to give 10/10 for – no bubbles, clean grill and light work and only two minor marks that a couple of minutes filling will clear up.

Style wise I give it a 10/10 as it looks mean and made for the job

Value for money 9/10 as the metal parts are not up to the same quality as the resin

Would I buy another?  Yes – no hesitation at all.

2 into 1?

I've been playing with the two blogs I run on Blogger and moved them to WordPress hosted on my own site.

I've done a quick merge to www.kings-sleep.info as a test.

Could you let me know your thoughts?

Key things for me to know what you think are:

1) Tags / categories - better or worse to find things with?
2) Lack of the 'Follower' option for Blogger folk!
3) Layout needs to be tweaked and duplicate posts removed.
4) Old links (see http://www.kings-sleep.info/?p=197 ) will point back to Blogger for now!
5) Do I classify everything with a specific 2mm category to simply things for them?

Currently this is an intellectual challenge for me as I want  to learn PHP and WordPress as a self-growth task but thought I could use it for real as well...

For now though its just a play thing.
